These cars should have been donated to charity or sold at auction. Thanks CMPD for wasting more of our tax money.

There are plenty of other places t***e cars could have gone. There are people right in our town that would be more than grateful to have transportation so they could hold down a steady job and support their families.

The engine compartments still look to be intact. The kids will probably but the engines back and put them in another car.

This is typical of Charlotte. What was the point in destroying these cars??? They SHOULD have been donated or sold at auction where the money COULD have been put to good use. What a waste!

I think it serves as a warning to street racers... If they are auctioned the racers have the ability to buy them back. This way, no way, no how.

I just hope CMPD emptied these vehicles of all hazardous materials before crushing. And they should have been donated!

of course the cmpd HAS nothing else to do, beside not eating donuts so they tend to use manpower to damage and destroy cars..

What a waste of time and money, is this suppose to "send a message". I am sure anyone with a performance upgrade on their car will come clean now. Maybe donate the cars or have them scrapped and donate the money. How much did CMPD spend to put on this "production".

I remember when the city council closed down Shuffle Town Dragstrip so one of the members could work a lucrative deal with a home builder with the drag strip out of the way!!!! NOW you are crushing the cars of people who have no where to go?!!!!!Why not sell the cars and apply the money to a "safe" place to race, like a new drag strip!!!! Cannot believe you couldn't think of something better than this, but at least you got your face on the TV!!!!Jerks!

Well, if that isn't the most insane thing I've ever seen!! Does the CMPD honestly believe that crushing the cars of t***e who were caught is going to stop performance upgrades?!?!? Sure, good luck with that!!

These cars have been used illegally. Their destruction is a powerful illustration of the ill use to which they were put. Let them be destroyed.

Really??? What the? Three words come to mind that can sum up this act....Stupid, Stupid. Stupid.Let's not donate these cars to t***e in need. This WILL stop street racing in Charlotte.

They should have put the drivers inside the cars and THEN crushed them. I hate all these little illegal immigrants running crazy on our streets with their angry-hornet sounding tailpipes. Just wastes of space.

Once again proof that CMPD flexes its muscle instead of its brain. This is not a solution but a show of what it takes to be at the forefront of police state. as a man once said in line at CMPD recruiting event "well I"ll be an SOB" to which all of the recruiters responded "your hired!" Our county needs a drag track not a car crushing.

Amendment IVThe right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized. and this portion of the 5th Amendment:nor be deprived of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor shall private property be taken for public use, without just compensation. You CAN NOT be prosecuted for what you might do! Not without a guaranteed win in court and I'll bet there are a thousand Cons***urional lawyers who would love to take a case like that to court.T***e officers need to be given a copy of our Bill of Rights and be forced to read it out loud. If someone's breaking the law I have no problem with enforcing it but if they're not, the police/government better stay clear.

"Vivabosox" come stand in front of my car and I'll show you how much street racing this stops. Just makes some of us mad as hell that instead of reasonable fines for the "crime" (which they helped CREATE closing our dragstrip!!!) instead they take thousands of dollars of private property! Build us another drag strip instead of closing them with bogus personal agenda's and then setting people up and stealing their property!!!!!This "crime" is not worth the thousands of dollars these guys probably owe on these cars. You that disagree just wait till they find something YOU are doing that they feel is just cause to confi****e YOUR property! Jay walking?HMMMMMMMMMMMM "Cut his feet off at the ankles!!! That will stop these jay walkers!!!"

I have to agree. More showboating in front of cameras for cmpd. They are never around for a real crime though. They are all over speeders and anything else easy to accomplish. They can't catch a rapist, burglar or arsonist to save their lives. Moreover when t***e crimes happen in town, they disappear unless it happens in myers park. This was a stupid waste so they can look productive in front of the cameras.

When was the FIRST car race? When the second car was built! As much as Charlotte kisses the butt of Nascar and any chance to get any other car related honor (like the recent Nascar museum bid)then they turn around and screw the mess out of other car related sports. I Like drag racing because it is over in seconds instead of hours sweating in the sun watching guys chase their tails. Compare the thousands this comes out to, to say a reckless driving ticket. You drive recklessly couple hundred bucks."We" set you up for a self fulling prophecy of failure (young guys, cars, no safe place with medical aid if needed, then steal your cars).Reckless driving $200 bucks (?)Entrapment street racing? We STEAL your property and crush it!If you are so damn friendly to car sports, built us a damn drag strip! I don't want to see this on the street either!!!!Hypocrites!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

crush everything that goes wrong? What next, your ***e if you don't mow in time? Give the kids a place to go instead. Sell their cars at whatever the cost and build a place. You won't stop foolishness by crushing anything other than the foolish, good luck with that.

You can't sell a 'soupep up' car and put it back on the street. It would cost more tax payer dollars to get them street legal again. The did auction 2 cars that they were able to. If you are caught street racing you should have your car crushed and your license taken indefinitely. You should have to walk everywhere you go. It is beyond stupid with the lives it endangers.
